Director, Education Initiatives

With a background in education programs and non-profit management, Jeanie Lee Boehmler joined Fight for Children as Director of Education Initiatives in 2007. Ms. Boehmler manages Fight For Children's education-related initiatives which promote excellence in education for low-income children in DC, including identifying and promoting best practices and making strategic grants to high performing organizations.

Prior to joining Fight for Children, Ms. Boehmler was the Executive Director of Language ETC, a non-profit English school serving adult immigrants in the Washington area. She has also been an elementary public school teacher for six years instructing students in urban schools in Boston and Los Angeles. Ms. Boehmler is on the Board of Directors for Asian American Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP), a national membership organization aimed at increasing visibility, advocacy, and philanthropy to Asian serving community organizations. Ms. Boehmler received her Bachelor's degree in Education from Boston University, and went on to receive her Masters in Literacy from the Johns Hopkins University.
