Mr. Schaufeld founded NEW Customer Service Companies in 1983 in a studio apartment in Washington, DC, with a $79 investment. Today, NEW Asurion is the world’s largest provider of consumer product protection services with over 11,000 employees, hundreds of millions of consumers and a market capitalization in the billions. The company has received numerous awards from organizations such as Inc. Magazine and JD Power. In 1987, Mr. Schaufeld co-founded the Service Contract Industry Council (SCIC), the national trade association for the service contract industry.

In 2006, Mr. Schaufeld founded SWaN Investors, Inc., a private investment firm which manages over $200 million in assets deployed in a variety of early- and mid-stage businesses. In this capacity, Mr. Schaufeld is a board member of BioWarn LLC, SWaN Hilltop LLC and Pertuity Direct.

Mr. Schaufeld is a recipient of Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year award; he has been quoted extensively in the press and has appeared on numerous news programs including CNN. Mr. Schaufeld has been a Whiting-Turner Lecturer at the University of Maryland and has lectured at the College of William and Mary.

A graduate of Lehigh University, Mr. Schaufeld and his wife Karen are involved with numerous local and international charities related to education, elimination of poverty, healthcare, environment, Middle East peace and the advancement of the arts. Mr. Schaufeld is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Loudoun Country Day School and is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization. He served as Chairman of Fight Night 2008, raising over $400,000 for Fight For Children.
