James Abdo Jim Abdo is the president and CEO of Abdo Development, a District of Columbia development and construction company that specializes in luxury residential and retail development. The firm was incorporated in 1996. Abdo Development concentrates its development in and immediately around the urban core of Washington, DC. Some of Abdo Development’s notable recent developments include the development of 480 condominiums on the site of the former Capital Children’s Museum on H Street, NE and 87 new loft condominiums in two warehouse-inspired buildings on Clarendon Boulevard in Arlington. A graduate of the College of Wooster, Mr. Abdo is married to Mai Abdo, with whom he has two children. He serves on numerous boards, including the DC Preservation League, DC Building Industry Association and Arena Stage. In 2004, Mr. Abdo was appointed to the Washington Convention Center Authority Board where he chairs the Development Committee. Mr. Abdo was also appointed to a two-year term on Fannie Mae’s National Housing Advisory Council.
In 2004, Abdo Development won the DC Mayor’s Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation.
Mr Abdo was honored with the 2007 CEO of the Year Award from SmartCEO Magazine.
He was also named a finalist for the 2007 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year
