Anthony A. Lewis is vice president - Open Development for Verizon Wireless, the premier wireless provider with the nation's most reliable wireless voice and data network. He is responsible for leading Verizon Wireless’ new Open Development initiative, which will enable the development community to create devices, software and applications beyond those the company offers, that can run on the Verizon Wireless network.

Prior to this appointment, Lewis was president of Verizon Washington, D.C., a position he held since March 2004. In this role, he oversaw all of Verizon's operations in the nation's capital.

Lewis joined Verizon in 1986, then the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Virginia, and held various positions of increasing responsibility, in product line management, sales and regulatory.

Lewis currently serves on the boards of Elizabeth City State University, Fight for Children, DC Children First and the Encore Dance School. He has served on various boards including Chairman DC Chamber of Commerce’s Governing Board 2007, the Board of Associates of Gallaudet University, the Greater Washington Board of Trade, the DC Workforce Investment Council, the Washington Performing Arts Society, the Federal City Council, the Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington and City First Bank. He is past president and current member of the Developmental Roundtable for Upward Mobility (DRUM) and a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
